These hounds are easily recognized by a compact body, loose pendant ears, a short coat that comes in tri-color (white, black and tan,) and a white tail tip. The skull is broad and rounded. The eyes have a sad or pleading expression; they are usually of hazel color and the nose is black. The breed stands about 13-16 inches at the shoulder and weighs from 20 to 25 pounds.
